She has stated that she is of Italian and Greek heritage.

Sammi’s maternal grandfather was Chris Aliferis (the son of Dimitrios Aliferis and Georgia Maniatis). Chris was born in Newark, New Jersey. Dimitrios was from Kastania, Laconia.
