Three passengers, including an attorney for former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel, were killed in a private plane crash over the weekend. According to the New York State police, Richard P. Terbrusch and his girlfriend, Dr. Jennifer Landrum, 43, were on their way to Charleston, SC from Connecticut when the twin-engine Piper PA-34 went down over the Atlantic Ocean near the Hamptons on Sunday.

The plane’s owner and pilot, 41-year-old Munidat “Raj” Persuad also passed away in the crash, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

A source close to Ravenel told Radar Online that Ravenel is “stunned and in a complete state of shock” over the news. “He and Richard were close friends for years, they played polo together, and Richard was his legal go-to guy for a long time.”

Carol Landrum, Jennifer’s mother, is also shocked. She confirmed her daughter’s relationship with Terbrusch and spoke about her to New 12 WRDW.com. “She was beautiful. She was just a wonderful person and a wonderful mother,” she said. “She has two children.”

Terbrusch represented Ravenel, 56, after he was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting his children’s former nanny. At the time, he denied the allegations through Terbrusch: “My client enjoys a certain degree of fame,” the attorney told People, “which has unfortunately made him a vulnerable target for such claims.”

Yet that wasn’t the only time Ravenel had a run-in with the law. The former politician resigned as the South Carolina State Treasurer in 2007, after he was indicted for distribution of cocaine and sentenced to 10 months in prison. He went to rehab following his resignation and went on to appear on five seasons of the hit Bravo reality show.

The cause of the plane crash is not yet known at this time.
